Down to the Wire

It's down to the wire for getting a card into this weeks challenge
at Merry Monday. The theme is to create a card using
carolers/music. I saw this challenge at the beginning of the
week and knew the image I wanted to use but it took me
all week to get at it and most of the day today to get it done.

I have yet to make it into my craft room since my fall almost
3 weeks ago. I'm having serious withdrawals. I do have some
supplies upstairs in the dining room which has been great!

I want to say THANK YOU to all of you that have sent messages
and emails about my leg. I appreciate them very much. I'm still
on crutches and it's going to take some time to heal. I met with the
physio therapist for the first time this past Tuesday and we made what
I think is great progress. I got my shoe on!
I was told 4-6 more weeks before I can walk on uneven ground. No
hiking with my husband and the dog for a while (insert sad face here).

Back to the challenge.
Isn't this picture adorable! Who doesn't love Charlie Brown?

The reason it took most of the day for me to make this was I
was trying to make a card that wasn't CAS. It seems that that's
what has become my 'go-to' style. When I decided to set aside
the different dsp's and stick with just the white card stock the
card just came together - in about 5 minutes to be exact.

I love the little birds with their winter attire. I added some glitter
to the fur trim using the Wink of Stella glitter pen. I love the detail
that embossing folders add to a card. I think that it's safe to
say that the big shot is my favorite stamping tool.
LOVE that thing!
A few sequins, a little bit of baker's twine and it's done.

supplies:
from Stampin' Up! unless noted
card stock: whisper white
digital image: winter song birdies (doodle pantry),

big shot: large stitched rectangle stackables (lawn fawn),
          decorative dots EF
embellishments: cherry cobbler baker's twine, sequins (craft medley)

Missing My Craftroom

I don't usually share too much here that's not card related
but I thought I would make an exception.

Some of you are aware that I had a little accident last week.
I slipped on some ice as I was leaving for work and hurt my ankle.
Good news is it's not broken.
Bad news is they don't know the extent of the damage.

I'm waiting to start physio and get a bone scan. The damage is
deeper than what can be seen in an x-ray.
It's been 10 days - 10 LONG days!!
Days of reading, netflix, games on my ipad and surfing the net and...

...coloring.

Since I haven't been able to get to my craft room (it's downstairs) I had
some of my craft room brought to me. My daughter brought my
printer upstairs for me so I've been printing and coloring up a storm
with my blendabilites. I ordered the 4 new sets of colors and they should
be here Monday or Tuesday - I can't wait to play with them!

I've managed to put together a couple of cards this week and even
entered a challenge. YAY!

I  was able to get the dr to fax a note to the principal of the school
where I work saying I could go back on light duties. I work at an
elementary school and one of my duties is to supervise the kids playing
soccer on the upper field. In this weather and me on crutches it's too
dangerous so I won't be doing that for a while.
Other than that I think (hope) I'm ready to go back.

I'm not healed and won't be for a while but if I don't give it a try,
I won't know. If it's too much, well then I guess I'm back in my
lazyboy.

Merry Monday

It's my first Merry Monday challenge of the year - YAY!
The challenge is to create a Christmas card with a house(s).

I went online and found a free digital download from
Beyond the Fringe that was perfect for this challenge.

Besides the houses I decided to use the red and white
color theme in the picture. It was hard to not color in all of the
houses, but I like it.

It was a little plain for my tastes so I added texture with
some stitched frames and an embossing folder.  I finished it
off with some cherry cobbler bakers twine and popped
everything up on dimensionals.

I like how it turned out.

A Monster Mash!

The challenge yesterday at StampNation was to make a
birthday card using FOUR of something.
My card has four monsters on it just waiting to wish
 the receiver of the card
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I don't have access right now to my craft room but I do have
access to my printer, my blendabilites, my big shot and
a few big shot items, sequins and washi tape. I've had
tons of fun coloring  the last few days - it's the only thing
that's keeping me sane sitting here.

I took a fall on Wednesday on my way to work and ended up
spending all morning in emergency. Now I'm spending hour upon
hour upon day after day in our lazyboy watching Lie To Me
on Netflix and coloring digital images. I can't put any weight
on my leg - they say it's not broken but I'm having my doubts.
I may be taking another trip back to emergency for more
x-rays.   In the mean time - I'm coloring up a storm!

A Birthday Brew...

How about a beer dude?
I'm sure that's not how the guys talk to each other but
I couldn't resist throwing a 'dude' in there.

The birthday celebration at StampNation this week is still
going strong. I just did the second challenge (out of order, but done).
The challenge is to make a birthday card for him!
It's a 'beer'day cake!

When I look at this card, I ask myself how did it take so long to
put together? There's the image, washi tape and a greeting. Three
things. Not hard right? But I
struggled a LOT with the placement of all of it.

I cut the greeting into individual words and backed it with some
scrap dsp to make it pop a bit. I added crystal effects to the
foam to give it a 'wet' look. It doesn't show well in the photo
but it does look wet in person.

A Monster Birthday!

It's day 3 of the Birthday Celebration at Stamp Nation. The
challenge today is to make a birthday card for a child.
I love the image on this card - makes me think of the little
girl in Monster's Inc. I couldn't wait to make this one.

The digital image is from Just Inklined - it's called
Penny Monster and it's adorable! I colored her in with my
 blendabilities from Stampin' Up!
The greeting is a free digital image I found at Create a Smile
there are some really cute images there - you
should go check them out and try a few!

I am submitting this to the digi/embellish challenge
at CCC Digi Creations

I am also submitting this to the anything goes challenges at:
 Sister Act

My tip for Top Tip Tuesday is something I've always said
to my girls about wearing make-up and that is 'Less is More'.
Keep things simple with lots of 'white' space and just a few
embellishments, ie sequins and twine and you're sure to
create a card you can be proud of.
Most importantly - have fun with it - enjoy the process.

One of THOSE cards...

You know the ones. The ones that don't turn out like
you thought they would so you try something else but
then you don't like that so you try something else again and
then you give up.

That's this card!

I was inspired by a card that a very talented lady by the name
of Maureen made. She's the Queen of CAS and has taught
me so much. Check out her blog Mama Mo Stamps. She's also
part of the design team at StampNation.

My original plan was to make a birthday card with pink
flowers. So in that aspect my card is a success. I tried using
blendabilities to stamp the image but that didn't work so I
colored the flower in.
Blendabilities are not for stamping an image - they are
definitely ONLY for coloring.
There were smudges which I hid with sequins - love that trick!
I don't like how the shadowing turned out either - I need a
lighter grey for that I think.

You're probably asking yourself why am I sharing it with you
if I'm not a fan of the card. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it.
I just don't love it.

Happy Birthday StampNation!

StampNation is turning 4 today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I downloaded the dsp from StampNation. It was a birthday gift
from Guest Designer Chaitali Narla and free for all SN members.
It's adorable!! Thank you Chaitali!!

I've been having so much fun coloring digital images lately -
and to be honest it's been easy to do while I've been getting
over an inner ear infection. I've got lots of images colored now
so I better get busy and make some cards.

StampNation is celebrating all week long!! There's guest designers,
challenges, videos and PRIZES!!!

If you're not already a member - what are you waiting for!!!
Head on over and join the party!!!

I'm also submitting this to the challenge at Seize the Birthday. This
is my second card for that challenge - I had so much fun making the
first one that I decided to make another. The added theme for this
challenge is 'toppings'. I added a few sequins to this card
for my topping.

Can't Get Much Easier!

It doesn't get much cleaner and simpler than this card!

I haven't been feeling well the last couple of days - I have a
broken ear drum :( so my energy is a little low. When I get home
from work all I want to do is sleep and that's pretty much what I do.

This card is SUPER SIMPLE.
I stamped one of the flowers from a Winnie & Walter stamp set
called The Big, the Bold and Extras.
I did fussy cut the flowers out because I wanted to add a little dimension
by popping them up on dimensionals.
The greeting is from Stampendous and is called Birthday Wish.
It's a great set with lots of greetings!

I may try a stepped up version of this one when I'm
feeling better - I have some ideas :)

Cupcakes Anyone?

Yes Please!

Cupcakes seem to be quite the trend for parties these
days. They look so pretty and festive when they are on
a cupcake tower.

The challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is anything goes with
a twist. That twist is to use your favorite embellishment.
Right now my favorite embellishment is my Wink of Stella
glitter pen.

I used it on the icing of these cupcakes to make them sparkle.
It doesn't show well in the picture but it looks great in person!

Anyone else craving a cupcake right now besides me?

Miss You Already...

When I showed this digital image from Just Inklined to my
daughter she said "Mom, she looks so sad, what will you use her for?"
I wasn't sure, but I had a couple of ideas. It wasn't until I
colored her that I decided to use her on a 'miss you' card.

Shopping Our Stash has their first challenge for 2015.
The challenge is to use something new on your project. I've
used a new digital image.

I really like how this one turned out.
I have been having a blast playing with digital images and my Stampin' blendabilities markers.
Stampin' Up! has 4 new color sets to add to their blendabilities
collection.
I can't wait to add them to mine.

You Brighten Up My Day!

I left it to the last minute but I managed to get a card made
for the cue card challenge at CASology. The cue card word
is LIGHT.  I combined it with a sketch challenge at
the As You See It challenge blog.

I didn't have any stamps or images that I felt would work or
that I wanted to use so I went on line and found a light bulb
digital image at Dr. Digi House of Stamps. The greeting is
from desert diva. Both images were free too!

I used washi tape with three polka dot lines to replicate the
three lines on the sketch and my new wink of stella glitter
pen - LOVE that thing - to add some shine to the light bulb.

When I showed my husband the cards I made today, he was
really impressed with this one. He's not very forthcoming with the
compliments beyond the obligatory 'that's nice' but he said the light bulb looked 3D and had to touch it.  That felt nice that he  really liked it.

Thrice as Nice

The theme at Shopping Our Stash is 'Thrice as Nice'. It
asks people to use three (or more) patterned papers on your project.

My card uses three different patterned papers from three different
paper packs. The image is a digital image from Just Inklined. I recently
ordered quite a few images and have been having a blast coloring
them with my blendabilities from Stampin' Up!

You'll definitely be seeing more digital images being used by me!

Birthday Party!

What's a birthday party without cake?!

In 2014 I failed at keeping up with mailing out birthday cards.
To help me be better at this in 2015 I plan on participating in the
challenges over at Seize the Birthday. It's a blog dedicated to
making birthday cards which is just what I need.

This is my first card of what I hope to be many for these challenges.
I kept this card really simple. I love the big 'happy' font
from The Big, The Bold and the Happy stamp set from

I used a Wink of Stella glitter pen to add some sparkle
to the sparklers on the cake from Endless Birthday Wishes from
It's hard to see in the big picture
but maybe you can see it in this close up.

I used the Shenanigans stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays to
stamp the inside of the card. I'm really drawn to the big fonts
lately.

Thanks a Latte

I saw this sketch last week over at CAS(E) this Sketch! and
instantly had a few ideas.

It's rare that I use something other than white for a card base
but lately I've been drawn to the color gray so I thought I would
try it and I have to say - I like it.

I also like how the detail on the white which was made by using the
Zig Zag embossing folder from Stampin' Up! works with the
pattern on the dsp.

What I would change would be the mugs. I would have layered
the dsp onto card stock and then pieced together so they would
be thicker and then place them on the card using dimensionals.

I have a few thank you cards to make so I'll try that on the next one.
