Time to Sparkle

I've been playing with the Bottleful of stamp set from Altenew.
I bought it for the sole purpose of making masculine cards but I saw
someone make a card using the beer bottle as a vase - it looked
fantastic so I thought I'd give it a try.

The challenge at CAS on Sunday is a toppings theme of adding
sparkle to your card - use some bling!
You can't see the sparkle very well in the first pic but it shows up in
the one below. Besides the sequins, I used the Spectrum Noir
Crystal Clear glitter pen on the bottle/vase - love how it looks.

I used  the brick wall embossing folder for some texture in the
background. I've always loved the look of a white sentiment on
a white card - I used some white fun foam under the 'ello' part of
the die to pop it up.

You know how once in awhile you make a card that makes you smile?
This is that one for me.

Check out the challenge at CAS on Sunday and add some sparkle to
your day!

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!

Owl I Want For Christmas....

It's time for a color challenge at Christmas Card Challenges
and check out these awesome ones.

I've had this owl stamp and coordinating die for a long time
but don't use it too much but I thought today's color challenge
at Christmas Card Challenges would be a perfect time to pull it
out and dust it off.

I've always loved the look of grey owls in the winter so that's what I
went with and of course I had to throw a couple of googly eyes in
just for fun. I wish now that I had added some falling snow.....
back in a few minutes.

So I went and played with the embossing paste and my falling snow
stencil. It was a little hard to get it around the owl because of
the googly eyes but I love how it looks with the snow.

Now, check out what the rest of the DT has come up with for
this challenge. I hope you'll be inspired to play along.

Hiding in My Craft Room

I thought I would play along with the challenge at
Hiding in My Craft Room today since I've spent half the
day in my craft room.
The theme is to make a card for any holiday -
I think everyone's birthday should be there own personal holiday!

I'm using a new die set that will be available June 1st. It has a
coordinating stamp set and I was beyond thrilled when I saw it in
the new Stampin' Up! catalogue. I ordered it as soon as I could and
have made a few cards with them already.
I have to say that the new catalogue is fantastic!! I haven't been this
excited for a release in a while.

The butterflies were punched from a piece of watercolor paper that
I colored with the Ken Oliver Color Bursts.

Let The Fireworks Begin

I spent the afternoon playing with the Ken Oliver Color Bursts.
Those things are seriously addicting!
This piece in particular made me think of fireworks and the pops and
bang sounds they make which is the theme for the current challenge at

I didn't want to cover it up with anything so
I just added a die cut sentiment and a few glittery sequins.
Those color bursts are really simple to use and extremely fun!!

and thanks so much for visiting!

'Tis The Season

'Tis the season for sweets!
And this week at Christmas Card Challenges we have a sweet
challenge for you. Check it out!

You'll never find much in the way of baked goods in my house -
don't like to bake and don't have a sweet tooth. BUT at Christmas
time I manage to overcome my dislike and have too much of the
stuff around the house. I have gotten better over the years and don't
bake nearly as much as in the past. We have a few must haves as
I'm sure every family does.

Cupcakes are not on my Christmas baking list but this digi image
from Bugaboo looked too yummy to pass up. Maybe if I could
bake cupcakes that turned out like that then they'd be on my
Christmas baking list.

Be sure to check out all the yummy goodness that the DT has
come up with this week to inspire you.

and thanks so much for visiting!

WOW!!!

I received some Ken Oliver Color Bursts a while ago
and finally played with them the other day. All I can say is
WOW! WOW! WOW!!!!!
This product is like nothing I've ever seen before!

I used Indigo and Merlot Color Burst powder (the merlot color
shows up better in person) and when the powder met with water -
well, it's like magic - seriously!! It's like nothing I've ever
seen before. The color literally bursts off the page!

I just stared at it for a long time not sure what to do with it. I
had a few ideas but in the end I couldn't do anything to it.
I decided to leave it as one piece with just a sentiment and play
along with the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.
To help make the sentiment pop I used a white gel pen to
add some highlights. The little black strip down the side is a
piece of black glitter paper.

I will definitely be playing with these powders some more.
It takes the tiniest amount of powder to make a big amount
of color - so one container will last a LONG time which
makes it a great value.
If you haven't seen them before or played with them - you
should check them out - they're amazing!

Anything Goes

Anything goes at Christmas Card Challenges this week.
This one is always fun!

This is one of those stamp sets that I had to have - I've had it for a
long time but for some reason have used it very little.
Why is that?
That's going to change because I LOVE it!!

Simon Says Flowers

My post office box has been a great place to visit lately! It
seems I've been a little busy lately ordering things :)

The theme at Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge is flowers.
One of the stamp sets I was eagerly awaiting was from Altenew
called Peony Bouquet. It has a coordinating die set too - which for
whatever reason I didn't order (???) but am going to rectify that asap!
It is a gorgeous flower set!

For the sentiment I used the All About You set that was made by
CASual Fridays for the recent Catherine Pooler Stamp Of Approval Collection.
I think it's safe to say that this collection is by far my favorite!

Inkspirational

When I saw the challenge at Inkspirational I knew I wanted to
play along but I don't have any mint color inks or paper :(
BUT then I remembered I have mint colored pencil crayons -
YAY!

I've had this image printed and ready to color for a while now just
waiting to be colored. I grabbed my prismacolor pencil crayons and
had some fun. I'm also playing along with Seize The Birthday as their
challenge theme is 'coloring'.

Why don't you grab your stamping supplies and play along too -
it's tons of fun!

Merry Monday

I have the pleasure and honor of being a guest designer at
the Merry Monday challenge blog this week. The first challenge
I ever played along with was one at Merry Monday. I loved it and
still do to this day. They have a fantastic DT that is always
inspiring and the challenges are always fun to do.
This one was no exception.

I covered some retired wooden snowflakes from Stampin' Up with
some whisper white ink, pressed them into a pile of chunky
white Deep Impression embossing enamel and then heat set them.
I love how they turned out.
It's hard to see in the photo but the background is embossed with
the decorative dots embossing folder. Looks like falling snow.

Now, check out the inspiration photo...

...and click here to check out the DT's cards. I hope you'll join us in
the challenge too. I look forward to seeing your cards in the
gallery.
